Amanda Bushemi Buckley concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial general liability, professional liability, commercial auto and bad faith. She also has experience as both coverage and monitoring counsel for cyber and privacy claims, tech E&O, on-line media and intellectual property claims, including in the London market. Her practice includes not only advising clients on various coverage issues arising under primary/duty-to-defend policies and excess and umbrella policies, but also representing insurance companies in coverage litigation throughout the country. Amanda has also assisted clients in drafting and editing tailored policy forms and endorsement language to meet product goals and also account for emerging case law, for an array of general liability and excess liability risks.
Amanda has represented her clients in analyzing and evaluating complex high-profile cases, including:
- Hundreds of childhood sexual abuse claims brought against various Catholic Dioceses throughout the nation, as well as the Boy Scouts, namely when states across the country began enacting “reviver statutes” allowing otherwise time-barred claims to proceed;
- Sony hacking investigation involving allegations that Sony Pictures Entertainment's impending release of the movie The Interview made Sony the target of computer hacking, resulting in the release of sensitive corporate information; and
- C.R. Bard’s thousands of medical device product liability claims involving pelvic mesh products and inferior vena cava filters.
Prior to joining BatesCarey LLP in 2014, Amanda practiced in Indianapolis, Indiana focusing on insurance defense litigation.
