BatesCarey Deepens Litigation Bench with the Addition of David Cutter
BatesCarey announced today the addition of David F. Cutter, who joins as a partner and brings his strong litigation background to the firm’s insurance coverage practice.
For more than two decades, Cutter has litigated disputes involving a wide spectrum of management liability products, including D&O, E&O, fiduciary, EPL, and bond coverage. He also litigates general liability matters and defends insurers against individual and class actions challenging their business practices.
While much of his practice involves litigated disputes, he is also a trusted advisor on claims involving complex underlying and coverage issues. In this role he helps clients understand their coverage, defense and settlement obligations, assists with the evaluation of underlying exposures, and develops creative strategies for closing claims.
“David’s stellar reputation in the courtroom and as a counselor are well known in the insurance coverage industry,” said founding partner Robert J. Bates, Jr. “We are delighted to have him expand our bench of litigators to vigorously pursue our clients’ interests.”
He has been consistently recognized by Chambers, The Legal 500, Best Lawyers and other legal services rankings as a leading commercial lawyer. As noted in recent editions of Chambers, he "is an excellent lawyer and advocate for his client" and “clients describe him as ‘a very smart and hard-working trial lawyer.’”
Cutter joins the firm from Clyde & Co.
The news comes on the heels of the firm bringing on Lindsey D. Dean, Emily R. Tripicchio and Sarah M. Kitlinski over the past few months.
For decades, BatesCarey LLP has dedicated its practice to protecting the interests of insurers and reinsurers while shaping the trends of insurance law throughout the United States and abroad.
