BatesCarey Hosts Tea Talk: Women Empowering Women
On November 1, 2018, the women of BatesCarey and insurance professionals throughout Chicago gathered at Swift & Sons for the first annual Tea Talk: Women Empowering Women to network, enjoy the company of colleagues and discuss emerging workplace trends in the context of insurance coverage.
Katherine A. Martin and Paige M. Steffen presented an engaging and informative one-hour CLE and CE program titled #CoverageToo: The Impact of the #MeToo Movement and Other Women’s Issues on Coverage. Paige addressed the opioid crisis and its unique and disproportionate impact upon women and the insurance coverage implications of the opioid crisis. Katie examined the genesis of the #MeToo movement and its impact on Employers Liability, Directors & Officers, General Liability and Homeowners insurance policies.
Elise D. Allen moderated a panel discussion titled Women in the Workplace: How to Deal and Succeed featuring panelists Jennifer Goff Barry of Citi, Taylor Crowley of BOKA Restaurant Group and Kimberly Fields of IDEX Corporation. The panelists and the audience engaged in a spirited discussion on topics ranging from the women who serve as inspiration in their lives to dispelling unspoken biases in the workplace to achieving and maintaining the elusive work/life balance.
