BatesCarey is proud to announce that R. Patrick Bedell has been named in Crain’s Chicago Business 2024 Notable Leaders in Accounting, Consulting & Law.

Patrick focuses his practice on advising insurance carriers, leveraging his legal and technical knowledge to shape strategy on claims presenting billions of dollars of exposure to the insurance industry. Patrick litigates on behalf of his insurance clients domestically and internationally, under both domestic and Bermuda coverage forms. Since 2021, Patrick has been recognized by Chambers USA as “Up and Coming” for ensuring litigation and tactics are strategically aligned with client goals and his growing practice in the insurance space.

As a member of the firm’s Opioid Coverage Task Force, Patrick is actively engaged in analyzing all insurance aspects of opioid-related suits against manufacturers, distributors and retailers. He has also successfully litigated claims for liabilities relating to thousands of lawsuits alleging contamination of drinking water by PFAS – widely referred to as toxic “forever chemicals.”
